PCIT (Parent-Child Interaction Therapy)
What is PCIT (Parent-Child Interaction Therapy)?
Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) is a live coaching therapy for children ages 2-7 and their caregivers to improve disruptive behaviors and strengthen their relationship. It involves a therapist observing the parent and child through a one-way mirror and providing real-time coaching through an earpiece. The therapy has two main phases: Child-Directed Interaction (CDI), which focuses on praise and positive reinforcement to improve the relationship, and Parent-Directed Interaction (PDI), which teaches caregivers consistent discipline and limit-setting skills.
